So I have gotten comfortable enough with navigating SWTOR that I prefer to play than to chat, so I could see how that might happen for others, yet there is often some entertaining subject matter to keep engaged.
I began this round of exploration by searching through forums to see if I could find any interesting tidbits of SWTOR culture or information I hadn’t previously found. I started by using the SWTOR game linked forums in their community section. I decided to search a Galactic Starfighter (GSF) thread I found because I had played this mode twice in the game and failed miserably and didn’t know how to use all the controls, so I thought this might help. There were so many links I just felt overwhelmed, yet continued to look around the thread and saw some recommended YouTube videos on Galactic Starfighter farther down the page under general information after the table of contents.

I clicked on the first video because I am more of a visual learner, yet the video was just a galactic starfight without any tips, so I eventually just searched for “galactic starfighter how to play” on YouTube. I finally found a Video that explained keyboard controls and made life easier. After hearing a little beyond basic controls, I figured instead of trying to become a pro at GSF overnight, I decided to take what might be useful like all the keyboard controls. I decided that there is just too much to this game to worry about an aspect of it that is not required to complete the storyline.

I decided to play SWTOR and make it through my storyline for while, and whenever I got stuck or had a question, I asked for help from my reliable Guild leader, who seems to respond every time I use Discord to communicate with him. I would chat with him on my phone with Discord while playing the game and try and stay active between both. It was relieving to get quick advice on things that weren’t necessary to advance in my storyline but helped me engage more and increase my desire to play the game. Plus I got to know my guild leader better as a person and his struggles as a security guard that was required to come into work despite coronavirus concerns. He told me he had respiratory issues and was worried, so we got to communicate on a human level as well, besides just game play.
Here was some fun stuff I caught in general chat as a bonus

And one more fun one that shows a little of what goes on in general chat

The chat in the game can get pretty funny sometimes. Darth Baras is especially a fan favorite to make fun of. I hope you continue to enjoy playing the game.
