A New Hope

So I began my third 5 hour period of interaction talking in general chat on the world Tython. I asked a lot of questions and friended anybody who was helpful in guiding me through the game or asking questions about the community. I was told I should probably ask first before friending someone because it automatically adds them instead of sending like a friend request in Facebook.

As I returned to the game a few days later, I got help more directly with players helping guide me through missions and strategy. I couldn’t figure out how to get a real light saber as opposed to a practice saber and apparently I had to complete the storyline missions, hence main missions, of my character and complete all the missions for Tython to do so. I was told this was done by following any mission arrow that was purple on my map. So I pressed M a lot to bring up my map and navigate to main missions, ignoring side ones along the way so that I could focus on advancing in the game. It felt good to have some guidance. I am starting to feel comfortable with more aspects of the game and somewhat enjoying it. Really wanted to get my light saber as well.

I started completing my main story missions by following the purple arrows and markers on the map. I had to fight my way through enemies and right click objectives and interact with NPC’s. I also looked up how to use voice chat on SWTOR but didn’t get much help at the first site, as it just instructed me the different modes of chat in the main world box chat. I was a little annoyed but figured I could still interact plenty between my guild’s discord and general chat. It just takes longer than voice chat to get good stuff. Nevertheless, I found plenty of inappropriate and entertaining aspects of SWTOR members.

Firs off, as I was asking questions, I asked what RP was. I found out that it stood for Role Palying, but we’ll get to that later. After one person answered, multiple members in the chat started playing a game in which they made up other phrases for the RP acronym such as “rapscallion pigdogs” and “reallyspicy pizza.”

I was told this is a game they play often in chat, but that no one had named it yet so I suggested MUWFA (making up words for acronyms). Don’t think it’s going to stick.

Even in telling me it was a game played in chat, another acronym was used, xD. So the acronyms and abbreviated words in chat were endless. It could take all day to learn them all.

Referring back to role play, I saw plenty of that in my time here. Some really dirty and somewhat delirious. sexual favors as well as deviant behavior were the norm in role play. It definitely spiced things up #ReallyspicyPizza. Warning, discussion below is disturbing.

So, I continued on my journey through Tython, navigating the world through the map and following mission symbols, finally beating the final boss for the final mission of Tython and receiving my REAL light saber. I was so enthused and felt I’d share it with some inappropriateness, which considering what I’d seen before was probably a 3 out of 10 on the inappropriateness scale. A member shared my enthusiasm.

One reason it took so long to finish my storyline on Tython was because I kept accepting side missions and flashpoints, in which another member kept inviting me to join their group to do group missions. I accepted in order to stimulate conversation and learn more from a group, but really I just completes most of the mission points on my own and the group wasn’t very responsive.

Overall, my experience with the game has been much better. I am feeling comfortable with many more controls and actions in the game as well as asking questions. People are very helpful and friendly in the community, if not entertainingly inappropriate at time. I am really beginning to enjoy the community and the game as well.
